Free dance courses, inclusive sports sections, sign language training, lectures on sexual education, emergency action planning, master classes on first aid, sand animation – these are examples of some of the youth social projects presented at the final festival of the EU-supported programme “UPSHIFT Ukraine” in Kharkiv.

During 2018–2019, the programme conducted six training modules for some 250 young entrepreneurs and community activists in Kharkiv, in order to help them develop their social entrepreneurship skills.

The best projects received grants of up to UAH 80,000 (around €2,500) and professional advice from mentors.

UPSHIFT Ukraine has been jointly implemented by the EU and the United Nations International Children’s Fund (UNICEF). The total amount of grant funding from both donors neared UAH 3 million (approximately €100,000).

In autumn of this year, the UPSHIFT Ukraine programme will be rolled out in the Donetsk and Luhansk regions of the country.
