On 8 April, the European Commission and the EU High Representative announced that the EU will provide €80 million of immediate and €883 million of short-term support to the six Eastern partner countries in response to the COVID-19 outbreak. From that amount, Ukraine will receive €190 million.

One of the main areas of EU support in Ukraine will focus on organising a voluntary service to help vulnerable people. The volunteers will deliver food to older people, support teachers to work online and help fight disinformation. The EU will provide €4 million to support these civic initiatives.
