A new EU project to support community-led peacebuilding and advocacy initiatives is to be launched in Ukraine.

The project “Reweaving the Ukrainian social fabric: supporting community-led peacebuilding and advocacy” will help civil society organisations (CSOs), local, regional and national authorities and media to jointly analyse and resolve conflict situations in their communities.

The project will provide grants to CSOs to implement local peacebuilding activities. It will also consult mass media on the coverage of contentious social issues.

The EU project will be implemented by the independent international peacebuilding organisation International Alert in cooperation with the international non-profit media development organisation Thomson Media, a partner of Thomson Foundation Group, with the financial support of the EU.

With a budget of €1 million, the project will be implemented in 2019-2020 in the following target regions of Ukraine: Donetsk, Luhansk, Zaporizhia, Kharkiv, Dnipro, Kherson, Odesa, Lviv, Zakarpattia and Kyiv.
