On 12-13 April, experts from several EU countries will visit Azerbaijan to share their experience in customs control of goods sent by international mail and shipments by express couriers.

The aim of this workshop is to provide the Azerbaijani authorities with a comprehensive overview of international and EU regulations in the field of customs control of goods. In particular, the discussion will focus on goods sent by international mail accompanied by documents specified in the Universal Postal Union Acts and express mail shipments transported by express couriers.

During the two-day mission, the experts will also present best practice from different EU member states and illustrate examples of the implementation of relevant EU directives. The event has been organised by the European Commission’s Technical Assistance and Information Exchange Instrument (TAIEX), in cooperation with the country’s State Customs Committee.

TAIEX is a demand-driven tool that supports partner countries with the adaptation of national laws, regulations and quality standards to match those of EU Member States in the framework of Cooperation or Association Agreements signed with the EU. In the Eastern Neighbourhood, TAIEX works with Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine.
