On 31 March, the EU Spokesperson issued a statement that it does not recognise the constitutional and legal framework of the so-called 'presidential and parliamentary elections' in Nagorno–Karabakh.

“This event cannot prejudice the determination of the future status of Nagorno–Karabakh or the outcome of the ongoing negotiation process.”

The Spokesperson added that the EU firmly supports the Minsk Group of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE), and in particular “its Co-Chairs’ efforts to bring about progress beyond the status quo and substantive negotiations towards comprehensive and sustainable peace.”

The EU concluded its statement by reiterating that it is ready to further support the efforts for early and peaceful resolution of the Nagorno–Karabakh conflict.
