A new mobility opportunity for artists receiving EU funding was launched on 3 June. This is the second call announced by ‘i-Portunus’, the EU-funded project trialling a mobility scheme for artists and culture professionals. The application deadline is 24 June 2019.
Artists from Armenia, Georgia, the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine are eligible to submit applications.
The first call was announced in April and received over 1,200 applications – mainly from artists. There were a mix of applications from almost all countries participating in the Creative Europe programme, although the majority were from larger EU Member States.
According to Creative Europe, there was also a substantial number of responses from Ukraine. The so-called “mobilities” that were selected in the first call are scheduled to take place from 15 June until the end of 2019.
The i-Portunus project aims to provide support to up to 500 short-term (15–85 days), international mobilities of artists, organised through three calls.
According to the Creative Europe programme, studies have convincingly illustrated the importance and impact of mobility for the professional development of artists and culture professionals.
The destination of the mobility should be a Creative Europe country. These mobilities must have a specific and well-defined objective, such as to develop an international collaboration, to engage in a production-oriented residency or in professional development, to present work in another country or to develop projects with local communities in the destination country.
