On 5-6 December, the Ukrainian capital of Kyiv hosted a multi-country workshop on transboundary animal diseases.

Organised by the European Commission’s Technical Assistance and Information Exchange Instrument (TAIEX), the event gathered representatives from the responsible veterinary authorities in the Eastern Neighbourhood countries (Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine).

The workshop discussed the importance of prevention and the control of transboundary diseases and cooperation between the EU and its Eastern neighbours in this area.

The participants agreed that, based on the experience gained, proper tools should be developed and opportunities should be created to increase the capacity of neighbouring countries in collecting, storing and submitting high-quality data to the coordinating institutions.

The workshop was organised in cooperation with the European Food Safety Authority and Directorate-General for Health and Food Safety of the European Commission.
