On 10–11 December, representatives from a number of countries including Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine will visit Slovakia to discuss the EU Plastics Strategy and single-use plastics.

The aim of the workshop is to provide advice and guidance to the representatives of the beneficiaries with regard to the new legislative framework related to the EU strategy for plastic waste, the Single-Use Plastics Directive and Directive 2019/94 on the reduction of the impact of certain plastic products on the environment.

In addition to guidance on the EU legislative framework, EU Member State experts will present factsheets on the European strategy for plastics and its relation to the circular economy.

Finally, representatives will share best practices on the environmentally sound management of plastic waste, raising awareness of marine plastic litter and energy recovery from plastic waste.

The expert mission is organised by the European Commission’s Technical Assistance and Information Exchange Instrument (TAIEX) in cooperation with the Slovak Environment Agency.
