Council extends mandate of EU Special Representative for South Caucasus and crisis in Georgia

On 25 February, the Council of the EU extended the mandates of six EU Special Representatives (EUSRs), including Toivo Klaar – the EU Special Representative for the South Caucasus and the crisis in Georgia.

Klaar’s mandate has been extended until 28 February 2021. He was first appointed in November 2017.

EUSRs promote the EU's policies and interests in certain regions and countries as well as topics of particular concern or interest for the EU. They play an active role in consolidating peace, stability and the rule of law.
