On 3 July, the EU Commissioner for European Neighbourhood and Enlargement Negotiations, Johannes Hahn, met with the Prime Minister of the Republic of Moldova, Maia Sandu.

“It was good to see that the transition to the new government took place peacefully,” Commissioner Hahn said. “During my visit to Chisinau already on 19 June, I could congratulate the Prime Minister and her government for having worked coherently and constructively throughout the crisis.”

Hahn added that the EU and Moldova will organise their next Association Council as soon as possible, at the beginning of autumn at the latest, to re-launch joint cooperation.

Hahn also re-confirmed the EU’s readiness to step up financial support to the country.
