Belarus: EU funds new energy-efficient street lighting in Biaroza

The city of Biaroza, Belarus, will soon become more energy efficient thanks to support from the EU programme Covenant of Mayors – Demonstration Projects. The city will receive a new automated street lighting system, which will ensure better living conditions and reduced electricity costs for the local citizens, and will cut CO2 emissions by 4%.

As a part of the energy modernization works the city will install LED lamps, lighting poles and control boxes.

The total project budget is over €775,000, of which €620,000 is provided by the European Union. The EU programme expects to replace all street lighting in Biaroza District by 2021.
