Staff at the AzScienceNet research network in Azerbaijan have received training under the EU-funded Eastern Partnership Connect (EaPConnect) project, supporting the integration of the local scientific community with their peers in Europe.
The series of trainings, which took place in October, focused on the operation and configuration of network equipment. The participants acquired knowledge in using Juniper equipment in corporate and carrier networks, boosting their technical and practical knowledge.
Since the training, AzScienceNet has been able to increase the speed of its broadband internet access, therefore improving its network service and further enabling the integration of the Azerbaijani scientific community into European science. Azerbaijani researchers now also have chance to receive more affordable and better quality access to the services of GÉANT, the pan-European research and education networking association.
The EaPConnect project aims to create a regional research and education network in the EU’s Eastern partner countries (Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine).
The overall objective is to decrease the digital divide, improve intra-regional connectivity and facilitate the participation of local scientists, students and academics in global research and academic collaborations.
