On 21-22 May, as part of the European Days celebrations in Azerbaijan, the EU will support practical sessions for schoolchildren and students to raise their awareness of pollution prevention, water quality and its importance for a healthy life.

The participants will analyse samples of river water and wastewater using express water test kits. Experts from the European Union Water Initiative Plus for the Eastern Partnership (EUWI+) project will provide their professional advise and guidance.

The EUWI+ project helps Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine to bring their legislation closer to EU policy in the field of water management, with a main focus on the management of trans-boundary river basins. It supports the development and implementation of pilot river basin management plans, building on the improved policy framework and ensuring a strong participation of local stakeholders.
