The Eastern Partnership Connect (EaP Connect) project has shared a story on its website on how it has helped to strengthen the relationship between the research and education community in the Republic of Moldova and RENAM, the national research and education networking organisation that serves it.
The first EaP Connect project ran until the end of June 2020 and has been followed by a second project that is building on its success.
The first project helped to upgrade RENAM’s network infrastructure capacity and install a high-speed connection link between Chisinau, the Republic of Moldova and Bucharest, Romania.
As a result, the new link provided around 50 Moldovan research and education institutes, libraries and universities with improved connectivity, access to online resources and opportunities for international collaboration.
The improved network connections now allow Moldovan students, researchers and academics to better collaborate with their peers in Romania and other countries and participate in international research projects.
‘EU4Digital: Connecting Research and Education Communities’, the second EaP Connect project, began on 1 July 2020 and will build on the achievements of the first project. The project will last until 2025 and will continue to bring research and education communities from the EU and Eastern partner countries together, reducing the digital divide.
