On 20 February, the EU joined a number of international partners to honour individuals working to promote human rights, freedom of expression, diversity, democracy, transparency, legal reform and equal rights in Armenia.
Ten awards were given to Armenians at the Universal Rights Awards Ceremony, in the following categories: freedom defender, community development, access to justice, promoting inclusion, media excellence, government reformer, partnership advocate, woman of courage and youth leader.
At the same event, the Embassy of the French Republic and the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany bestowed their annual Franco-German Award for Equal Opportunities on an Armenian NGO.
Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan attended the ceremony as its guest of honour.
