Armenian national research and education network staff learned about new trends and met new potential partners at one of the world’s largest and most prestigious IT events, the World Congress on Information Technology (WCIT), which took place in October this year in the capital of Yerevan.

For 40 years, the WCIT has brought together CEOs, investors, policymakers, government officials, academics and technologists to discuss the current state and future of the industry. This year, the event focused on the ‘Power of Decentralisation: Promise and Peril’.

This was an opportunity for staff at the Institute for Informatics and Automation Problems of Armenia’s National Academy of Sciences to discover trends and innovations that are interesting and potentially beneficial in their provision of internet network connectivity and services to the Armenian research and education community.

The participation of many commercial organisations also allowed Armenian researchers to explore potential interest in business collaborations and in internships or exchange opportunities for students that will help their prospects in the IT market.
