The Armenian capital of Yerevan will host Europe Day celebrations on 26 May. The event will be launched in an unusual way this year, as the EU Delegation to the country will invite all participants to take 8,500 steps of Nordic walking.

The walking will start at 10:00 am from the Circular Park, near the statue of Vardan Mamikonyan. The Head of the EU Delegation, Ambassador Piotr Świtalski, will join in. Participation is subject to registration via this form.

Participants aged 55+ will receive special gifts from the EU Delegation. The first 300 registered users aged over 55 will receive Nordic walking poles if they complete the whole course. Surprise gifts will also be awarded to the youngest and oldest participants.

This year, the Europe Day events in Armenia are being organised under the "Road to Europe" theme in the country’s five regional cities: Kapan, Yeghegnadzor, Ijevan, Dilijan and Gyumri. They will then culminate in the country’s capital of Yerevan.

The events will include outdoor information fairs attended by various EU-funded projects and project beneficiaries, various sports and entertainment competitions, branded gifts by the EU Delegation to Armenia and large open air concerts in all the cities, with performances by some of the best artists from the country and the EU.

The embassies of EU Member States in Armenia have also joined the EU Delegation by organising cultural and entertainment events in May.
