Young people from the EU and Eastern Neighbourhood aged between 16 and 25 are invited to join the ‘Young European Ambassadors’ initiative.

Today, a new call is launched by the ‘EU NEIGHBOURS east’ project for dynamic and enthusiastic young people who have a good level of English and are citizens of any EU Member State or Eastern partner country (Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine) to become Young European Ambassadors.

Applicants should be interested in EU affairs and their country’s partnership with the EU and be ready to share knowledge and information. They should also be keen to contribute to the development and prosperity of their communities and countries more broadly.

The successful candidates will engage in online and dialogue-driven activities, and represent the youth of their countries both domestically and abroad. They will exchange experiences, discuss matters of direct concern to young people, share best practices, and work together for a better future for their countries.

There will be few stages in the selection process and in the weeks following the application deadline, in which successful applicants might be invited to interviews and, based on availability, get the chance to participate in an activity organised by the existing Young European Ambassadors in their country of residence. Finally, successful applicants will be consulted with and agreed upon by the EU institutions. More information can be found here.

To apply for a Young European Ambassador position,  applicants should first complete this online application form by Wednesday, 12 June, 2019 at 23:59 (Brussels time). Applicants can express their motivation through a short video or written statement, and by completing a short quiz about the EU and the Eastern Partnership (EaP). The form allows applicants to edit their responses at any time, until it closes on 12 June.

This year is the fourth round of applications to become a Young European Ambassador. The initiative has grown steadily over the three previous waves of applications, increasing the number of selected Young European Ambassadors (YEAs) from 100 in 2016 to nearly 500 in 2018. Over the past three years the Young European Ambassadors have actively participated in more than 300 activities, including visits to schools and universities, EU discussion clubs, EuroSchools, participation at Youth Fairs, activites dedicated to the protection of environment and many more across all of the Eastern partner countries. They have also participated and represented the youth of their countries at international events and conferences.

The 'Young European Ambassadors' initiative is part of the 'Young European Neighbours' (YEN) network created by the EU-funded ‘OPEN Neighbourhood – Communicating  for a Stronger Partnership: Connecting with citizens across the Eastern Neighbourhood’ (‘EU NEIGHBOURS east’) project.
