Meet the Young European Ambassadors

Europe for me means peace, freedom and equality. As a Young European Ambassador (YEA), I aim to share these values every day with young people of my country and beyond. So, being a YEA for me, first of all means SHARING. Europe also means diversity and friends from different countries, cultures and backgrounds. As a YEA, I am every day communicating and cooperating with young people. So, being a YEA also means COMMUNICATION and COOPERATION. Communication is a two-way interaction. So, being a YEA means MUTUAL EXCHANGE: exchange of knowledge, of views, of information, ... and the result is truly rewarding: you offer and gain new skills, knowledge and a broadened worldview. Last but not least, being a YEA means CONTRIBUTION: by helping young people get actively engaged in the opportunities offered by the EU, I invest in the process of making them better future leaders.

Ani Khachatryan,25 years old.

I´m an undergraduate at the Belorussian State University, specialising in World Economy and focusing on monetary policy. I got deeper acquainted with the EU, its institutions and their important functions thanks to the successful accomplishment of the course "Educate yourself on Europe" in 2018. I spent last semester in Germany with the ERASMUS+ programme, during which I learned a lot about the academic and professional opportunities for young people. I try to dedicate my free time to volunteer activities and art. This year I´ve joined AIESEC as a manager in the department of outgoing exchanges. I´m proud to become a Young European Ambassador in order to share the European values in my country, to solve the current challenges and to find co-thinkers!

What would I do if I could make a wish? I would destroy socially disadvantaged environments to give people an opportunity for development. There are no miracles, but I continue struggling. YEAs mobilise communities for change and I am ready to change the environment. I have recently graduated from Minsk State Linguistic University. My specialisation was intercultural communication. I learnt a lot about democracy, political and social institutes at the university. My long -term goal is to make my country great and to realise the policy of social equity in Belarus. I am sure we can do it through collaboration with the EU because the European policy and social standards have stood the test of time. Moreover, The EU experience can help us to develop relations with government structures to overcome social problems. Another important point is the fact that the youth are not interested in changes because young people are often excluded as social and political candidates. YEAs will…

I am a 4th-year student at the Belarusian State University majoring in sociology. I write about youth, crime and drug consumption. The reason I have chosen to specialise in this field is that since I was a child, I've always wondered how different socio-cultural, politial and economic phenomena work at the grassroots level in different societies. In order to learn more about these, I participated in the OSCE Youth Conference "Working with Youth for Youth: Strengthening Cooperation Online", held in Malaga, Spain. I also participated at the launch event of the new institutional arrangement of the Eastern Partnership in Brussels last May and the CORLEAP meeting in Kiev. I am involved in the YEAs' initiative for the 2nd year and it's a great pleasure for me to be a part of it, as it allows me to learn new things, exchange experience and gain skills. The most important thing I've learned is how to have a great social impact in my local community and make peoples' lives better.

Hello, I am Darya Goretskaya and I’m from Belarus! I’m that person, who was born in that country, where for a long time there was an 'iron curtain.' It is gone, but still exists in heads of many people. But I’m a child of a new generation. My aim is overcoming prejudices and breaking down barriers. Only together we can fight for human rights all over the world and only together we can stop global warming. I have already become 'a Young Polish ambassador' (“Młodzieżowy Ambasador Polscości”). I develop culture of Poland and its language among people, who have polish roots but don’t live in Poland. I live in Belarus, but half of my blood is Russian and another half is Polish and Belarussian. Moreover, I’m a founder of many projects in my country, which are engaged in fighting against environmental pollution. My leadership is in knowledge. And my knowledge is my power. I’m more than honoured to have a chance to become a Young European Ambassador.

Now I miss that time but I am still a proactive participant of youth projects. In 2017 I studied Perspectives of multi-level governance, decentralisation and human rights in the frame of the Summer Academy for Young Professionals at Lund University. After this great experience I got the opportunity to promote my ideas and perform them within the Alumni Network. To be a Young European Ambassador means that I have even more possibilities to share my knowledge, experiences, create new projects, communicate with like-minded people and discover cultures.

Being curious since my childhood, I've always been trying to know more, to learn something new and to take a step forward. That's why during my study at Minsk State Linguistic University I had time to volunteer at Belarus Fashion Week, to work at the Yellowstone National Park and to take part in archaeological excavations. The YEA programme for me is an opportunity to go further and to take other people along with me as we are stronger together.
