Ashton condemns attack on Coptic worshippers in Alexandria

The EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs, Catherine Ashton, has condemned the attack against a Coptic Church in Alexandria, which killed and injured a large number of innocent civilians.

A statement issued by her spokesperson in Brussels on Saturday said the High Representative was “deeply saddened” by news of the attack against worshipers: “Catherine Ashton condemns unreservedly the attack against innocent Copt worshipers and expresses her deepest sympathies to the families and friends of the victims, and to the Egyptian Authorities. There cannot be any justification for this attack. The right of Christian Copts to gather and worship freely must be protected,” the statement said. (ENPI Info Centre)
