Eastern Partnership culture professionals get together to promote policy reforms

Culture professionals from the six Eastern Partnership countries are called to get together in Chisinau to start a reflection on culture policy reforms, organised by the Eastern Partnership Culture programme.

Between 17 and 20 April 2013 the Regional Monitoring and Capacity Building Unit (RMCBU) will hold its first “Culture policy exchange workshop” in Chisinau, Moldova, aimed at culture professionals from the six EaP countries (Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine). The participants represent national and local authorities, public cultural institutions, civil society organisations, cultural industries and individual actors from different sectors of culture.

The workshop – implemented in the framework of the regional Eastern Partnership Culture programme – aims at the assessment and elaboration of culture strategies that will motivate culture policy reforms and the identification of common interests in the field of culture for the six EaP countries. Trainers and participants from the EU and from the six EaP countries will share expertise and best practices, while working on policy reform projects.

The opening session entitled “Strategies for Culture and the Approach of Moldova” will discuss strategies for the development of the culture sector in Moldova. Mr. Boris Focşa, Minister of Culture of Moldova and Mr. Kaido Sirel, Head of Operations, Delegation of the European Union to Moldova, will welcome the participants of the Open Session.

The €12 million Eastern Partnership Culture Programme aims at assisting the Partner Countries in their cultural policy reform at government level, as well as capacity building and improving professionalism of cultural operators in the region. It seeks to strengthen regional cultural links and dialogue within the Eastern Partnership region, and between the EU and ENP Eastern countries' cultural networks and actors.
