Moncef has combined his training in IT with his love of handicrafts to launch an e-commerce business to sell the work of local artisans in Tunisia. With the help of the EU, he now aims to expand his business into new markets. Find out about Moncef’s story and his ambitions in the latest EU Neighbours South video, showing how the EU invests in young and innovative minds to build a brighter future in the Mediterranean.

With the support of the EU-funded SEED Euromed programme, which supports social entrepreneurs, Moncef launched the Quartaj.com internet platform. The programme matches young start-ups with well-established companies in Europe.

“Our project has great potential. In five years, we will take the lead on the market,” says Moncef.

Funded by the EU as part of the New Euro-Mediterranean Initiative for Youth Employment Promotion, SEED Euromed has supported the development of social entrepreneurship across Europe and the Mediterranean, aiming to develop strong, sustainable and inclusive growth and jobs in the Mediterranean region and Europe through entrepreneurship and social entrepreneurship.

The video is the fifth of nine interviews presenting the testimonies of young people in the Southern Mediterranean who have benefited from EU projects.

The videos are released on the EU Neighbours South Facebook page, or can be seen on the project’s YouTube channel.

They are part of the #EU4YOUTH social media driven campaign (Facebook, Twitter) aimed at raising awareness of EU-funded youth initiatives in the EU Southern Neighbourhood countries: Algeria, Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco, Palestine and Tunisia. The campaign targets one million young people in the age group 18-35 in the EU Southern Neighbourhood countries.
