The EU-funded Euro-Mediterranean Forum of Economic Institutes (FEMISE) has selected 9 proposals for research funding out of the 19 that it received under this year’s competition on the theme of ‘The Role of the EU in facilitating the modernisation, the transition and international openness of the Mediterranean countries’. The selected proposals will receive funding to carry out studies in the context of FEMISE’s EU-funded contract on ‘Support to economic research, studies and dialogue of the Euro-Mediterranean Partnership’.

The nine selected proposals will include more than 40 renowned researchers from both shores of the Mediterranean. Proposals were selected acknowledging that the need for well-conceived and founded policy advice is now more critical than ever before.

The proposals are considered to have a real added value, generating fresh knowledge and using rigorous methodology. They all have the potential of offering sound policy recommendations in themes of key interest for the EU-MED such as innovation and global value chains, renewable energy strategies, the impact of refugees on host labour markets, impact of DCFTAs, etc.

The list of selected proposals can be found by clicking here, while the results of previous rounds of research can be found here.

FEMISE is an Association that receives EU-funding, aiming through its activities to contribute to the reinforcement of dialogue on economic and financial issues in the Euro-Mediterranean partnership, within the framework of the European Neighbourhood Policy and the Union for the Mediterranean. More specifically, it seeks to improve understanding of the priority stakes in the economic and social spheres, and their repercussions on the Mediterranean partners in the framework of their implementation of EU Association Agreements and Action Plans.
