The closing seminar of the EU-funded institutional Twinning project aimed at “supporting the House of Representatives of the Kingdom of Morocco” has been held this week in Rabat, Morocco. It was chaired by Mr Habib El Malki, president of the House of Representatives of Morocco, and Mr François de Rugy, president of the French Assembly.

The closing seminar presented the achievements of the project in terms of reinforcement of legistic capacities, control of the government actions, assessment of the public policies, support to the promotion of the participation of female MPs and dynamics of the parliamentary diplomacy.

The EU-funded Twinning project, which began in 2016 and lasted for 24 months, supported the House of Representatives in the exercise of its functions which were reinforced after the adoption of the Constitution on 29 July 2011. It was based on the exchange of good practices between the Moroccan House of Representatives, the French National Assembly, the senior partner, the British House of Commons, the junior partner, as well as other European Parliaments (Belgian House of Representatives, the German Bundestag and the Greek Parliament).
