The 26th edition of the European Film Weeks in Morocco will open with the winner of the Golden Palm at this year’s Cannes Film Festival, The Square, by Swedish director Ruben Östlund.

“It’s about the dictatorship of being politically correct. That is terrible and awful and more horrifying than any other dictatorship,” Cannes Jury President Pedro Almodovar said of the film.

The European Film Weeks will be held in:

  • Rabat, from 13 to 20 November at the Renaissance cinema (2 screenings per day at 6.30pm and 9pm)
  • Casablanca, 15-22 November at the Rif Cinema (screenings at 8pm)
  • Marrakech, from 17-24 November at Le Colisée (screenings at 7pm)
  • Tangier, from 21 to 28 November at the Rif cinema (screenings at 7pm)

The European Film Weeks have been organised since 1991 by the European Union in Morocco in collaboration with the embassies and cultural institutes of the EU Member States.
