TunisiaCall for proposals launched for the organisation of communication campaigns on the risks of irregular migration
The European Commission has launched a call for proposals for an amount of 4.5 million euros for the organisation of information and awareness campaigns on the risks of irregular migration in Algeria, Morocco, Tunisia and six other African countries. Applications need to be sent by 5 April 2018.
The call for proposals is part of the actions planned in 2017 annual work programme of the Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund (AMIF, which amounts to more than 170 million euros).
The general objective of the present call is to contribute to the shift in perceptions and attitudes of third-country nationals who think about migrating irregularly towards the European Union as well as of people who have major influence on their decision.
As underlined previously in the latest communication of the Commission concerning the implementation of the European agenda in terms of migration, a strategic approach to the Union’s communication needs to be elaborated. This approach includes the present and the coming information and awareness campaigns of the Union and the Member States, in order to improve the migrants’ capacity to take decisions in their best interest and to reduce the illegal entries on the Union’s territory and the associated risks such as human trafficking.
These campaigns must also encourage the access to legal migration channels that could offer reliable and structured solutions for the people’s mobility.
