The EU-funded Med Culture programme has launched a call for participation in a platform addressing Cultural Management and Cultural Policies, Higher Education and Training. The platform aims at gathering a number of peers from the region who will pursue networking and exchanges relative to higher education in cultural policies and management, and in artistic disciplines.

Some 30 persons active in the cultural sector will be selected to take part in this platform, which shall also contribute to the debate about various topics related to employability, education and capacity building initiatives in cultural management. It should facilitate partnerships processes between the members of the group that can be pursued subsequently, independently of Med Culture.

This platform should also offer the opportunity to exchange on best practices and propose initiative at regional level on issues such as the role of Culture as a vector for civil society in defending human rights, dealing with migration issues, preventing extremism, and reducing inequalities.

A two and a half days meeting is foreseen to take place in Rabat- Morocco from 25 to 27 April 2017, with a second opportunity to meet again during the final regional conference of the programme in October 2017 for some participants of the platform.

This activity is foreseen to be implemented back-to-back with the first activities of a training of trainers programme, to which the participation is also made possible through an open call.

The deadline for submitting applications is 22 February 2017.

Med Culture is an EU-funded regional programme that kicked off in February 2014 with the aim of sustaining the creation of institutional and social environments to support culture as a vector for freedom of expression and sustainable development. This should be accomplished by reinforcing the capacities of the public and private cultural sectors as vectors for democratisation, and economic and social development for societies in the Southern Mediterranean.

Med Culture is part of the regional programme “Media and culture for development in the Southern Mediterranean” which has been allocated a total budget of EUR 17 million over a four-year period, of which EUR 9 million is for the award of grants on a co-financing basis, and EUR 8 million for one capacity-development mechanism on media (Med Media) and one capacity development mechanism on culture (Med Culture).
