A two-day conference on youth employment in the southern Mediterranean region is taking place in Cairo on 9-10 July, organised by the Centre for Mediterranean Integration. The event aims to leverage existing research and analytical tools to identify the main constraints affecting youth employment in the MENA region, and explore the role of business climate, labour and education policies in mitigating those challenges.

The conference – titled ‘Youth and Employability in MENA: better skills, more jobs’ – will bridge theory with practical applications by focusing on international good practices related to the design and implementation features of policies that can help youth connect to jobs, start a new business, or manage periods of inactivity or unemployment.

It is aimed at both policy makers and technical experts from different MENA governments and agencies, international organisations, private sector and civil society.

The Centre for Mediterranean Integration (CMI) is a multi-partner platform where development agencies, governments, local authorities and civil society from around the Mediterranean convene in order to exchange knowledge, discuss public policies, and identify the solutions needed to address key challenges facing the Mediterranean region. The European External Action Service (EEAS) is an observing member, and the Anna Lindh Foundation and Union for the Mediterranean (UFM) are partners.

The event is open to the public and attendance is free of charge.
