The European Union and Tunisia have just completed negotiations in view of an agreement on air services that will lead to an improved access to airlines market, better connectivity for the passengers, a larger choice and better prices, and should result in 800000 additional passengers over a 5-year period.

The increase of the number of flights will also result in the creation of jobs and wealth for all the partners. It is estimated that the agreement will generate a GDP growth of 2.7% linked to travel and tourism, and an increase of annual traffic by about 13%.

Besides the access to the market, a common legal framework will be set up in air safety and security. This agreement was negotiated by the European Commission in the framework of its aviation strategy for Europe, an important initiative which aims at giving a new impetus to European aviation and offering new opportunities.
