Between 11 and 14 December, the European Commission’s Technical Assistance and Information Exchange Instrument (TAIEX) is organising an expert mission to Ukraine to present the EU legislation regulating air quality to the country’s State Emergency Service.
An expert from the Finnish Meteorological Institute (the designated expert institute on air quality in Finland) will provide an overview of the EU legislation, along with practical examples on its transposition and implementation in Finland and other countries.
The event participants will review and discuss the EU legislation and best practice on ambient air quality and cleaner air for Europe as well as arsenic, cadmium, mercury, nickel and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons in the air.
The expert mission will also serve to identify the current status of Air Quality Monitoring and Management in Ukraine and provide practical recommendations and guidance for modernising the systems in place in line with the EU requirements and best practice.
