The European Union has said that it is “strongly opposed to capital punishment” and “expects that the legal right to appeal for both convicts will be fully guaranteed”, following the handing down of two death sentences by Mahilioŭ Regional Court in Belarus to Ihar Hershankow and Syamyon Berazhny.
